To see a calendar of events, find a copy of the local paper, Atención, or one of the free monthly periodicals for visitors. Bellas Artes and the Angela Peralta Theater also post announcements of performances around town. Local regulations favor restaurant/bars over simple bars, so live-music acts often perform in restaurants. Clubs and dance clubs tend to spring up and then die off quickly. A couple of restaurants are popular nightspots: Tío Lucas (tel. 415/512-4996) is a fun place to hear jazz and have a few drinks and perhaps a bite of dinner. It's located at Mesones 105 across from the Teatro Peralta. Mama Mía, Umarán 8, between Jesús and Hernández Macías (tel. 415/152-2063), has a bar area where salsa and jazz bands play on the weekends. There is a cover charge of 40 pesos. In the summer, you can enjoy the late afternoon and early evening from its rooftop terrace. If all you want is a drink and a view, La Azotea Bar, next door to Mama Mía, has a lively rooftop scene all year long.
